Worker Killed After 18-Wheeler Strikes Lift

Wednesday, at around 5:00 am, an Indiana construction worker was killed after being struck by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 77 in South Carolina. Details of the Fatal South Carolina Accident According to WSOC TV, the worker was on a lift was on roadway as part of a project on a bridge at exit 27 near Blythewood when it was hit. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 40-year-old Nathaniel Deaton, of Martinsburg, Indiana, died at the scene. Jones stated that a special team has been investigating the accident to determine if the construction zone was properly marked and if any charges will be issued to the tractor-trailers driver. The crashed closed the southbound lanes of I-77 about 20 miles north of Columbia for several hours.
