Updates to New IDEA Website

by Arshi Pal, Esq., Littman Krooks LLP  Beginning April 30, 2018, the United States Department of Education has announced that the original “Building the Legacy: IDEA 2004“ website from 2004 will no longer be active. However, parents should not panic. Instead, any individual who visits the website will be redirected to the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) website. The Department of Education  has explained that the original “Building the Legacy” website was created in 2006 after the reauthorization of the IDEA in 2004.   However, the Department had not  updated it since 2013 and some of the information is outdated.  Indeed, the website crashed last year and, as a result, the new IDEA website was created.  The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) resolved the issued with the old site and kept the new IDEA site running also to allow stakeholders to provide comments.…
