#The1Llife Lectures v. Seminars GUEST BLOG Makenzie Way, 1L at the University of Pennsylvania Law School               For those students who like a structured course, and the ability to transcribe word-for-word what the professor says, lecture courses are for you! During most of undergrad, and for the entire fall semester of 1L students enroll in doctrinal/lecture courses. The spring semester of 1L, and the remaining two years of law school, present students with the opportunity to expand beyond lecture courses, and instead participate in seminar courses. Many students, however, are ill prepared for deciding between lecture v. seminar courses as they do not understand the substantial differences of the course formats. So, in an effort to put incoming law students (and students in general) in a better position when deciding between lecture and seminar courses, here is a brief overview of the pros and cons of each.
