Take these five steps to recognize and combat discrimination

The roles of women and minorities, throughout history, have been derived from what our male-dominated society has deemed appropriate. Although women have reached an unprecedented level of equality, we still have a long way to go. Women are still demanding equal pay and policies that counter marginalization and gender bias. Minorities still face the obstacles of discriminatory hiring practices and being reduced to the fulfillment of minority quotas—or even the appearance of being a “token” minority. I’m a truck driver turned law student who has come face to face with gender bias and discrimination. The commercial transportation industry consists of mostly men. There’s also a sense that men perform jobs in that industry better than women. I thought I’d left that behind by pursuing a legal education.
