Oy Vey! Custody Dispute Erupts Over Hasidic Upbringing

Former stripper Elina Margolina, who in 1995 married the manager of the Chicago gentleman's club where she worked, is now seeking sole custody of the couple's son, claiming that Nelson Derbigny has violated their 2007 divorce and custody agreement in which he agreed to raise the boy in the Jewish tradition. Derbigny, now a real estate agent, argues that Margolina wasn't a Hasidic Jew at the time they divorced and the restrictive nature of the religion is having a negative impact on his upbringing. "I am trying to teach him that he can be Jewish, but it doesn't have to limit him in his exposure to other outside pursuits. You know, you can be Jewish and and not have to wear it on your sleeve every day."
