See Nicholas Kristof's column in today's New York Times (here), explaining why Congress will still get paid if the federal government shuts down. Let me get this straight: military personnel may not get paid on time (here) unless Congress passes a special bill to exempt them, but members of Congress–who have failed to do their jobs by reaching some sort of budget consensus–will get paid? For shame, Congress. For shame.
