Michigan POLST Allows Unilateral Revocation by Health Professionals

Michigan enacted POLST legislation back in November 2017 that became effective in February 2018. Finally, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services released a proposed form and rules.   Notable features include"If a change in a patient's medical condition makes the medical orders . . . contrary to generally accepted health care standards, the attending health professional may revoke the MI-POST." This is similar to POLST rules in Maryland and Vermont. The MI-POST is valid for only one year and must be reaffirmed or revoked.
