Massachusetts Adds Bankrupt Idea to Fight Against Identity Theft

Following the massive identity theft from TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx and other retailers, the State of Massachusetts is considering laws that would require companies to notify customers in a more timely manner and allow customers to place a security freeze on their credit reports. Again, the responsibility for protecting oneself falls on the victim, rather than the multi-million dollar corporation that refuses to spend sufficiently to protect us from identity theft.
