Good Samaritan Atlin assists four in distress

Three people were transferred to the good Samaritan vessel Atlin after their 22ft vessel ran aground and began taking on water at a rapid rate. They were taken in good condition to Auke Bay Harbor. A Coast Guard Station Juneau response boat assisted after the 22-foot vessel was taking on water near Auke Bay, Alaska, Monday. The Cost Guard crew arrived on scene and transferred a dewatering pump to the aground 22-foot fiberglass vessel. After several attempts at dewatering the vessel, it was determined the rate of flooding was too great to manage. The Coast Guard boat crew transferred the vessel owner to Auke Bay Harbor who is scheduled to develop salvage plans. There were no reports of fuel discharge. Continue reading
