Military veterans are familiar with the healthcare and education benefits provided by the VA. Yet, there are many other benefits that can be overlooked and could prove invaluable in helping veterans with the transition from active military into civilian life. The following are four oft-overlooked VA benefits that veterans could find highly useful. Long-term care – The VA’s Aid and Attendance benefit offers up to $25,000 annually to pay for nursing homes, assisted-living and other long-term care services for veterans. Surviving spouses qualify for up to $13,560 per year in long-term car benefits. Transfer GI Bill Credits – Many veterans use GI Bill benefits to obtain college degrees and other advanced education.
