Cattle Trailer Overturns On I-76

Many things have clogged Georgia interstates over the years. From Coca-Cola to chickens to foam tomahawks to, as the late Keith Callan put it, that ubiquitous ladder in the roadway. You can now add cows to that list. Yes, cows. Last week, a tractor-trailer hauling several cattle overturned on Interstate 75 South. The Atlanta Journal and Constitution reports on the story. Cobb County police reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer drifted into another lane and then overcorrected. This caused the tractor-trailer to collide with a sound barrier at the end of a guardrail. While the driver was not injured, initial reports said that seven of the nineteen cows being transported did not survive their injuries. The Georgia Department of Agriculture corrected the report and concluded that ten cows perished in the accident. Emergency responders worked to herd the surviving cattle onto the side of the roadway after the accident. While the accident occurred just before 5 a.m.,…
