Atlanta Woman Charged In Fatal Felony DUI Case

In cases where a breathalyzer turns up inconclusive evidence of DUI – that is, if a suspect blows a 0.0% and a DUI is still suspected, police can obtain a blood sample. The blood sample is used to determine if there were any illegal or prescription drugs in a person’s system at the time of the DUI arrest. A South Carolina woman with ties to Atlanta, Georgia has had her bond set in a felony DUI case in Summerville, South Carolina. The Journal Scene reports on the case. 29-year-old Whitney Danielle Brooks had her bail set at $125,000 Monday in the case where Brooks is suspected of DUI in an accident that killed a North Charleston police officer last Thursday. Brooks appeared from a Summerville, South Carolina via video conference. The courtroom was packed with the friends and family members of Ryan MacCluen, a police officer who was killed in the accident. MacCluen had been off-duty and operating a motorcycle when Brooks turned left in front of the officer.…
