Her driver's license also was revoked for life as part of her sentence. Smith was driving her 1999 Ford Explorer west on State Road 54 on Dec. 6, 2007, when she failed to brake behind a 2005 Chrysler minivan that was stopped in traffic. The minivan's driver was not injured but four passengers in the vehicle were hurt. Two of them died in the days following the crash.
