While Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Make Sure Not to Slip and Fall

The Lone Star State might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a “Winter Wonderland,” but Texans are no stranger to ice and snow. Although winter storms might be rare, they pose a very real threat. Because Texas sees snow and sleet less often than our northern neighbors, we are often inadequately prepared with the proper equipment to deal with these conditions, such as ice pics, snow shovels, tire chains, etc. This can lead to dangerous, and even deadly slip and fall injuries and automobile crashes. When temperatures drop below freezing, car batteries require more energy than normal to perform the same tasks. This can decrease battery life by 20-35% according to AAA. Consider replacing your battery if you hear clicking, popping, or cranking noises when starting, interior or exterior lights dimming when the engine is revved, or if the battery is over 3 years old.
