Actor, writer and comedian John Cleese gets my vote for one of the funniest people in showbiz. I can't recall many shows that I have watched multiple times, but Cleese's "Fawlty Towers" is one of them. Of course, many people remember John Cleese from the Monty Python series and other memorable films like "A Fish Called Wanda". John Cleese's success brought him untold riches, but his recent divorce from his third wife, psychotherapist, Alyce Faye Eichelberger, is apparently causing him some financial discomfort and hence, he's on the road with his "Alimony Tour". Cleese and Eichelberger were married for 15 years before they separated. Their divorce trial was heard by a California judge in 2009 who originally ordered Mr. Cleese to pay his wife $13 million cash plus transfer to her an apartment in New York, a $3.3 million home in London and one-half of the Santa Barbara beach house. She also received $2.7 million a year in spousal support payable for seven years. Cleese was flabbergasted by the result. After the court award he wryly commented, "I got off lightly, think what I would have had to pay if Alyce Faye had contributed anything to the relationship." Happily for Cleese he got a bit of break when he went back to court to argue that his income had decreased and a California ranch property he retained was sold for $8 million less than he expected. The Court slashed his spousal support payment to $987,000.00 from $2.7 million a year. Cleese continues to tour in order to "feed the beast". His words, not mine. Lawdiva aka Georgialee Lang
