More states are considering Simon's Laws. These require clinicians to notify parents before instituting a DNR order for a minor patient. These laws also typically prohibit clinicians from instituting a DNR order over parental objections. However, the statute recently enacted and signed in Arizona only requires notification. The final version omits provisions requiring consent that were included in earlier versions. This contrasts with the Simon's Law statute in Kansas and a Simon's Law bill in Iowa.
