Sick Peruvian Crew Member Evacuated Off NCL Cruise Ship Norwegian Sun

The Royal Gazette Online reports a Peruvian crew member on the NCL cruise ship Norwegian Sun was evacuated to Bermuda on April 25, 2011. The Norwegian Sun was passing Bermuda on its way from Port Canaveral to the Azores when the 23-year-old female crew member became sick. Under maritime law, the cruise line is obligated to provide sick and injured crew members prompt, proper and adequate medical care. The Norwegian Sun radioed for help and a pilot rescue boat met the cruise ship off St. George's at about 4.30pm. The crew member was transferred off the vessel by stretcher and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
