Many environmental offences can be enforced either as a full-scale prosecution, where the maximum fines are enormous, or as a ticket, where there are modest set fines. For example, the set fine for operating a waste collection vehicle that is not "leakproof", contrary to section 16 (3) of Regulation 347 under the Environmental Protection Act is $300; the same offence, if prosecuted under Part III of the Provincial Offences Act, bears a potential penalty of at least $25,000. Here, for example, are the Set Fines for Waste Management Offences. For others, see the Ontario Court of Justice website. ©2011 Environmental Law and Litigation. All Rights Reserved. .
