Serious Slip and Fall injuries while anchored

A contracted workman slipped and fell into a bilge of the Ergina Luck while installing a recirculation system. The man reportedly seriously injured both his legs and back and was unable to walk. The Coast Guard assisted the injured man from the anchored ship at the Astoria anchorage on the Columbia River, early Monday morning. and transported him to emergency medical services at the 17th Street Pier in Astoria. The Clatsop County high-angle rescue team boarded the motor vessel and had to immobilize the crewmember and carry him up three sets of stairs before lowering him down to the crew aboard the 47-foot MLB. The condition of the injured man is unknown at this time. The cause of the incident which caused serious injuries will be investigated.
