Reports Say South Florida Grandmother Among Dead After Mexican Bus Crash

An early report in the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel says that “a South Florida grandmother and her 11-year-old grandson appear to be among the victims, according to family members – Fanya Shamis, 78, of Coconut Creek, was one of the passengers killed on the bus, according to her grandson, Benjamin Shababo, 18, of Hollywood. “ Read the full article here. The bus accident occurred on Tuesday as it was shuttling passengers, many of whom were passengers aboard the Royal Caribbean ships Celebrity Equinox and Serenade of the Seas. They were on their way to visit the ruins near Chacchoben. Costa Maya Mahahual was the bus company operating the bus when it flipped.
