Reiter and Walsh ABC Law Centers Donates Books to Reach Out and Read at the University of Michigan

Each month, we’re donating to a pediatric fund at Michigan Medicine, the healthcare system run by the University of Michigan. This month, we turn our support towards the Reach Out and Read program, which provides a new book to children from low-income families between 6 months and 5 years old that they can take home with them. Michigan Medicine provides high-quality care to patients, educates future scientists and physicians, and conducts new research into treatments and therapies. The Importance of Learning Reading Skills at an Early Age One-third of kids go into kindergarten without the skills necessary to learn to read. Reach Out and Read (ROR) was created in order to combat illiteracy by making it a part of primary care. Reach Out and Read at Michigan Medicine was one of the earliest programs to be implemented in 1997 and has now expanded across Michigan to ten more University of Michigan affiliated locations and two independent locations.
