Minnesota Sees Slight Drop in DUIs On New Year’s

The Minnesota State Patrol announced that there were 111 arrests for drunken driving over the New Year’s Eve holiday. Maybe our heads up about extra DUI patrols on New Year’s helped curb drunk driving arrests! The State Patrol announced that those arrests came between 6 p.m. on Monday and 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Assuming that’s the final tally, that means that there were six fewer arrests compared to the same time frame last year. Although they didn’t share many specifics about the individuals they arrested, at least one individual was booked after crashing into a parked train. The State Patrol stated that their troopers made 28 of those DUI arrests, while the other 83 arrests were made by local and county officers.
