Man Airlifted To Hospital From Cruise Ship

A 68-year-old man experiencing chest pains was airlifted from a cruise ship 140 miles out to sea on Saturday, authorities said. San Diego Harbor Police received a report of the man's condition just after 2:30 a.m. from the ship, Rotterdam, which was 140 miles offshore, according to Allyson Conroy, a Coast Guard spokeswoman. Rotterdam began sailing toward San Diego and at 5:30 a.m. a Coast Guard Jayhawk MH-60T helicopter was sent to meet it, Conroy said. The man, whose name was not released, was hoisted to the helicopter at 6:30 a.m. and taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, Conroy said. His condition was not immediately available.
