The following question was posed on a law professor listserv: Which jurisdiction's rules of professional conduct are most similar to the Model Rules? It's an interesting question. No jurisdiction has adopted the Model Rules verbatim, but which one is the closest? One person suggested Delaware on the ground that former Delaware Chief Justice Norman Veasay was the chair of Ethics 2000. Does anyone know the answer definitively or have any other nominations? The question arose because someone on the listserv wanted to distribute the Model Rules of Professional Conduct to a CLE audience and discovered that the Model Rules are protected by copyright. Someone suggested that the person distribute the state rules of the jurisdiction that is most similar to the Model Rules. And thus the question.
