Georgia Southern Students Killed in Thanksgiving Accident

From November to January of each year, thousands of families take to the roadways, traveling to visit family members for the holidays. While traffic can snarl and become frustrating, the most tragic effect of the increased travel is the accidents that ensue, especially during a time that brings families together in celebration. A Thanksgiving crash claimed the lives of two Georgia Southern students, as the Atlanta Journal and Constitution reports. Jack “Deacon” Harris and Garrett Harris were returning to Georgia Southern University at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday after Thanksgiving. While driving east on I-16 in a Saturn L200, the brothers were hit by a Toyota Avalon traveling the wrong way down the interstate. The Saturn became engulfed in flames and the two succumbed to their injuries. 27-year-old Jared Adler of Sandy Springs was the driver of the Toyota. He was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
