Speed Limit on More of I-90 Increased

In the past few years, the Illinois Legislature has enacted laws which make Excessive Speeding a much more serious matter than most people think. Most people are conditioned to believe that if they are pulled over for speeding they will receive a simple speeding ticket and the most that could happen to them is that they have to pay a steep fine and take a Traffic School class. The recent changes to the speeding laws have made certain Excessive Speeding tickets an actual crime. From all of the calls that I get from prospective clients, this area of the criminal law may be one of the most misunderstood subjects. If you are caught speeding 26 to 34 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, you will be charged with a Class B Misdemeanor. A Class B Misdemeanor for speeding 26 to 34 miles per hour over the posted speed limit carries a maximum punishment of 180 days in County Jail and a maximum fine of up to $1,500. Federal Charges Against Marijuana Use

When Attorney General Sessions began advocating for more rigorous enforcement of marijuana use, federal prosecution began to enforce cases involving marijuana use much more strictly. This shift occurred when Attorney General Sessions rescinded the Obama-era memo that allowed federal prosecution in states where marijuana is legal. In states where recreational use of marijuana is still legal, however, many people have begun to wonder if there are changes coming to marijuana cases. Instead, federal law enforcement remains on prosecution on only the most serious marijuana cases. Given this change in perspectives between administrations, people who are charged with drug offenses might wonder when a drug case will become prosecuted at a federal level. The Most Expensive Drink of My Life: The Consequences of Underage Drinking

“I’ll never get caught.” This is the invincible mindset of most young people who engage in underage drinking. Because of that mentality, the mental calculation of the consequences of getting charged with underage drinking isn’t considered. Combating underage drinking begins with education. A person who is drinking underage in NC needs to know that the bottle they are putting to their lips could be the most expensive drink of their life. This article does not exhaust the consequences of underage drinking in North Carolina. For instance, we won’t discuss the health consequences of underage drinking.
