Crash Injures Two Kanakee Firefighters on Route 45

A firetruck tanker was overturned after being struck by another vehicle on Route 45. The tanker was responding to an emergency with it's sirens and lights activated seconds before being struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by a 27 year old woman. The woman was cited for Driving without a Valid License and No Proof of Insurance. The woman, attempting to make a left turn just as the fire tanker was passing a vehicle behind her, failed to yield to the emergency vehicle. Both vehicles swerved off the road to the right causing the firetruck to overturn. The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken to Riverside Medical Center in serious condition.
