CG medevacs woman from cruise ship

59-year old taken to Sentara Norfolk General PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Coast Guard says it medevaced a 59-year old woman from a cruise ship off the Virginia coast to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday. The woman, along with a nurse from aboard the ship, were transported via a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Royal Caribbean's "Explorer of the Seas," which was located 230 miles east of Cape Henry. According to the Coast Guard, watchstanders received a call at 8:50 a.m. from a crewmember aboard the Explorer of the Seas stating that the woman's medical condition necessitated immediate medical attention. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. responded by sending the MH-60 rescue crew and a C-130 aircrew. There is no word on the woman's current condition. Originally Posted at: www.fox43tv.com
