18 Year Old Woman Sexually Assaulted on Carnival Elation

Yesterday, a male passenger aboard the Carnival Elation reportedly sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman with special needs during a cruise to the Bahamas. The incident occurred in a hot tub aboard the Carnival cruise ship. A Jacksonville, Florida news station reported that that the mother of the victim said her “18-year-old daughter has the mental capacity of a young teen." She believes the man "watched her then targeted her in the hot tub.” CBS-47 Jacksonville reported that the young woman says her daughter left on a birthday cruise / girl's trip with her grandmother. The woman, who has the mental capacity of a 13-year-old, was excited according to her mother – "This was really her first time experiencing a little freedom, you know?"
